Gloria Furlan, 82, of Riverside, was named by her father after the silent-film and “Sunset Boulevard” star Gloria Swanson.

“He thought she was the most beautiful thing,” Furlan said.

Her father wanted to name her brother after Rudolph Valentino.

“My mother put her foot down and said, ‘No way,’ ” Furlan said.
